ESSENTIAL SKILLS IN LEADERSHIP

Dictionary defines the word skill as – a particular ability, uncommon to common people, but developed through specific knowledge in a specific area to do something well. Developing skills in leadership to lead people or co-ordinate their activities and efforts will never be an ending process. It is continuous as long as one keeps developing and researching new things that are needed to add value to people and leadership responsibilities.

Below are essential skills to lead well, maintain your influence on people and run a productive and fruitful leadership.

1.)Listening Skill
This increases your capacity to read people; understand them deeply and hear their inner thought, even when they are not talking

2.)Writing Skill:
This increases your ability to convert your thought, ideas and words into visible, preservable and readable records.

3.)Delegating Skill:
This increases your ability to pragmatically share responsibilities in order to attract better productivity.

4.)Communication Skill:
This increases your ability to rightly learn what to say, who to say it to, why must it be said, how to say it and when to say what.

5.)Leadership Skill:
This increases your ability to effectively lead and follow, by given direction to the led and also learning from others to improve your personal worth.

6.)Relational Skill:
This increases your ability to understand people, their temperaments and how to get along with them irrespective of their shortcoming, status, exposure, educational level, age, belief etc.

7.)Organizational Skill:
This increases your mental, physical and coordinating ability to know what next to do, through deliberate planning and how to mobilize your personal and collective efforts to achieve a goal.

8.)Reading Skill:
This will greatly improve your ability in learning to read better, clearly, faster and also helps your mastery of pronunciation, grammar and expression of words with uncommon finesse.

9.)Equipping Skill:
This shows you how helpful you can and should be to people under your leadership, by furnishing and exposing them to relevant, information, teachings, materials books, platform, opportunities etc., that can enlarge and make them better leaders in future.

10.)Conflict – Control Skill:
This helps your ability to foresee, detect the source of potentially dangerous crises and confidently take a necessary decision to quell it before it becomes a serious leadership cancer.
